Storyboard Text

  • Waves are a rhythmic disturbances that carry energy without carrying matter created by vibrations (Back & Forth or Up and Down) Empty spcace or through a median
  • Compressional (Longitudinal) Wave
  • Waves
  • There are many different waves and can occur at different time caused by different objects
  • Transverse Wave
  • Energy causes the matter in the medium to move up & down or back & forth at right angles to the direction the wave travels
  • Some examples of Transverse waves would be waves in a water or a stadium wave
  • Frequency
  • Need matter (or medium) to transfer energy
  • Mechanical Wave
  • When I go to fix myself a glass of lemonade and I look inside the cup, it's a liquid so the lemonade would be considered a mechanical wave
  • Energy
  • Matter in the medium moves forward and backwards along the same direction that the wave travels
  • Hearing the drums beat at church would be an example of compressional waves because they produce sound waves
  • The sun produces light and waves and this would be an example of frequency
  • The rate at which a vibration occurs that constitutes a wave, either in a material (as in sound waves) or in an electromagnetic field (as in radio waves and light)
  • In order for waves to have energy they have to interact with matter (Coming in contact with the air)
  • Power derived from the utilization of physical or chemical resources, especially to provide light and heat or to work on machines
