Storyboard Text

  • Ellen does not know that Aunt Birte is not real but Annemarie does so now Annemarie is also lying to her very best friend, because she understood that she was protecting Ellen.
  • "I'm so sorry your Aunt Birte died." -Elen Rosen
  • "Thank you, Ellen" -Mama
  • As Ellen follows Uncle Henrik into the yard she was reunited with her parents who was safely brought to Ellen by Peter Neilsen. People also gather into the silent living room.
  • A group of officers barged into the house because they've noticed an unusual gathering of people at the house that night. They demand to open the casket but Mama lies and says that Aunt Birte died from typhus and it is still contagious but they should open it anyways. The officer slaps Mama for her foolishness. 
  • "Let us open it up!" -Officer
  • Peter Neilsen asks Mr. Rosen to deliver an important document to Uncle Henrik. They protected one another by not telling or asking what was in it. He sneaked the old man and the couple and their baby to the boat to escape to Sweden and told Mama to wait 20 minutes before sending the Rosens.   
  • "Mr. Rosen, I want you to deliver this. Without fail. It is of great importance" -Peter
  • 20 Minutes later...
  • Mama sneaks the Rosens to the boat on the uneven path and can't use any lights because it could attract the Nazis. Mama would be back in an hour at 3:30 AM.
  • "I'll come back someday, I promise." -Ellen
  • "I'll go first and you follow me. And be very, very quiet."
  • While waiting for her mother to return, Annemarie falls asleep. She wakes up past 4 o' clock and searches for Mama in the house but she wasn't there. She looked out the window and saw a strange dark shape at the path. Mama had tripped and fallen on the ground and crawled back home. And Mr. Rosen dropped the document as he was walking along the uneven path.
  • past 4 o'clock 
  • "Mama! Mama! What's wrong? What happened?" -Annemarie
