Conflict "No General, I will not hunt." (Connell 73)
Rising Action "You,ll find this game worth playing," the general said. Your word against mine. Your strength against mine Outdoor chess! And the stake is not without value eh?" (Connell 74)
I'll give him a trail to follow," muttered Rainsford, and he struck off from the rude path he had been following into the trackless wilderness. (Connell 75)
"Even so zealous of a hunter as General Zaroff could not trace him there he told himself." (Connell 75)
Climax Rainsford did not want to believe What his reason told him was true. The general was playing with him! The general was saving him for another days sport! The cossak was the cat and he was the mouse.(Connell 76)
Falling Action He stepped back from the quicksand about a dozen feet and began to dig. (Connell 78)
Resolution "I congratulate you," he said. "You have won the game." Rainsford did not smile. "I am still a beast at bay," he said in a low hoarse voice. (Connell 78)
