Say, "Cheese!" Family Picture of Jacob, Sarah, Anna & Caleb.
Caleb knowing that Sarah was not born here, he wanted her to "write her name in the land," like Papa's was. He wanted her to stay.
You can't even spell, Caleb.
I'm writing Sarah's name in the land.
When everyone was in town for church, the Witting Family's neighbor, Matthew and Jacob were checking the well. Families are feeling very discouraged.
The church well is down. A whole foot.
"The grass is green," she reads. "Growing so tall that we've cut it dozens of times already. The trees are lush. Autumn will be beautiful. Come visit, all of you. Soon. Love, Mattie."
Sarah has received letters from her Aunt Mattie who lives in Maine. Sarah knows the letter will bother Jacob, but he asks her to read it anyway.
Caleb heard Sarah's letter from Aunt Mattie about measuring rain by "the glass measure." So, he wanted to set out a glass for when rain finally came.
Happy Birthday, Sarah!
