I am tired, and i miss my family
In the mid 1800's people discovered that kerosene can be made from oil, so they started looking for it for the first time. This started the Texas oil boom.
In the early 1900's the Hamill brothers' struck oil spewing out 800,000 barrels in 9 days. Over the next 2 years 17 mill barrels came out. This increased the economy dramatically, dropped oil prices rock bottom, and changes Texas forever. Oil replaced most coal, and made tons of kerosene and petroleum.
Life in the oil fields was often times, rough, dirty, and dangerous. You had to be very patient, some trips took up to 3 years in search of oil. However, oils not called "black gold' for no reason, when you found oil you got really rich really fast.
