Storyboard Text

  • Icarus does not heed his father's advice and warning, and flies towards the sun, putting the stability of his wax wings in jeopardy.
  • The wax of Icarus' wings begins to melt, causing them to fall off. As he plummets towards the sea, the calls out to his father, but Daedalus cannot reach him in time. Icarus drowns.
  • Hang on! I'm coming!
  • My wings fell off!
  • There is no reward, other than the realization that great inventions can have terrible consequences, and that trying to overcome nature is sometimes a terrible idea.
  • After Daedalus flies on to Sicily- encountering no problems along the way- he befriends the King- Cocalus- and returns to normal court life, similar to before.
  • As this story does not follow the 'Hero's Journey' format perfectly, King Minos learns of where Daedalus is, but King Cocalus does not want to give Daedalus up. Fighting ensues, ending with Minos falling for a trap, and dying in boiling water.
  • OWWW!
  • Daedalus continues to work for King Cocalus. He has learned to be a more humble man, and that trying to achieve feats best left for the 'gods,' like flying, can lead to disasterous results.
