  • The beginning of the adventure happened in the novel, Quarantine, was after David and his brother Will have been in the school for a little more than a year and the kids who are not in a gang want to form one. David then takes Belinda's offer in being the new leader of the Loners. (141)
  • Beginning of Adventure
  • In the novel Quarantine there are a lot of "trials", but the more main ones would be David trying to find a place for his new gang and making sure no one dies (171-172). Another would be escaping Sam's death attack in the quad in front of everyone (124-132), and the third would be escaping the school before David was no longer immune to the disease. (399)
  • Road of Trials
  • In the novel, Quarantine, the unconditional love is pretty weird. At first David is dating Hillary and the break up before school starts. Will ends up heart broken, but Lucy still wants him as a friend. (Whole story)
  • Unconditional Love
  • In the novel, Quarantine, the refusal of the return is really short, but it's there. David is 18 and he is aloud to go, but the military aren't opening the doors anymore, but Will found a way out. The Loners have to make it to the ruins and let David go because if he doesn't they'll kill him. David ends up getting separated from Will and Lucy and doesn't want to leave them, but he ends up going and plans to get them out. (396-397)
  • Refusal of Return
  • In the novel, Quarantine, the return to threshold is another short part. David finally finds his way out of the tunnel and reaches the real world. It was the first time he has been outside in 2 years. He described berthing in the air as a spoon of sugar. He sees people across a fence and starts running, he is going to show the world what is happening in that high school. (399-400)
