  • I can't believe that someone would kill Gatsby.  I hate that i can't go to the funeral!!
  • A letter from Mr. Wolfshiem.  I wonder what is says.
  • Dear Mr. Carraway. This has been one of the most terrible shocks ofmy life to me I hardly can believe it that it is true at all. Such a mad actas that man did should make us all think. I cannot come down now asI am tied up in some very important business and cannot get mixedup in this thing now. If there is anything I can do a little later let meknow in a letter by Edgar. I hardly know where I am when I hearabout a thing like this and am completely knocked down and out. Yours truly Meyer  PS:Let me know about the funeral etc. Do not know his family at all.
  • Meyer has received a letter from Nick that says that Gatsby has been killed.  The letter speaks about how Meyer was one of Gatsby's friends and that Nick would like for him to come to his funeral.
  • Nick is Sad that no one is going to be at Gatsby's funeral.  He is also mad that nobody would respond to his phone calls.  Some of Gatsby's friends begin to say that they will go to his funeral. One day he goes to Meyer's office to try and get him to go to Gatsby's funeral.
  • Meyer decides to write back to Nick noting that he is unable to come but he sends his deepest condolences. 
  • But you were his best friend!!!
  • Gatsby would be very disappointed that nobody is going.
  • I would love to go but I don't want to get mixed up in things.
  • I really don't want to go.

  • Nick goes to visit Meyer in person because he is disappointed that nobody is going to Gatsby's funeral. Meyer tells Nick that he is unable to go because of different reasons.
