Storyboard Text

  • Nationalism is the idea of a free nation, without interference from other countries.
  • It can also mean to have sovereignty over another place that holds historical significance to that nation.
  • Nationalism can be positive or negative. For example, if a nation took full control of a different territory, it would be positive for the nation that took over but negative for the nation that was taken over.
  • It aims to develop a national identity based on shared traits like language, race, and religion and seeks to preserve the nation's culture.
  • Nationalism can also be the belief that one nation is the most superior.
  • The difference between nationalism and patriotism is that patriotism means to love your country and nationalism means to think your country is better than all others.
