Rural Changes in LICs
By imurdoch, Updated
Due to big urban migration, rates of population growth are much higher in urban areas.
Since rural-urban migrants are usually young male adults, farming is being left to the women and older people who remain behind in the countryside. they can barely grow enough food to feed themselves, let alone feed others.
Because of the need to feed so many people due to population growth, fuelwood is needed to make fuel to cook food. It is a profitable rural activity, but it is now having an effect on the environment as is is now a major contributor to desertification.
