Storyboard Text

  • Lord Shaftesbury had been oblivious toward an issue that would become what he would be remembered for. Lords Shaftesbury: helper of the poor, fighter for education and rights.
  • I wonder what fabulous stories I will read in the newspaper today...
  • How horrible! This latest article really emphasises the need for better treatment of factory workers, I must somehow help.
  • And so, Lord Shaftesbury decided the best way he could was to join parliament, in the hope he could create laws to lessen the suffering of poor factory workers.
  • Did you hear? Lord Shaftesbury is a member of parliament!
  • Lord Shaftesbury, how do you propose we help factory workers? Please, tell us your ideas.
  • Well...
  • I stand here as I am sick of all the suffering. As a child, I was abused by my father and have a great understanding of how painful suffering can be so I want to create laws to make a real difference.
