According to page 3 there are 23 kids besides Moose and Natalie who live in the apartments because their dads work as guards.
According to page 88 Moose is talking to Scout about how Al Capone plays baseball and he is first base. Scout says if Moose ever gets one of his baseballs he wants to see it.
On page 207 is Moose is beginning to write the letter to Al Capone and wonders he can get it through to to the censored mail. He asks Piper if her mom censors the mail and she says yes. It says that the wives censor the mail on Alcatraz.

In the authors note it says that the 64 building is the home to many of the kids in Alcatraz. The building is still standing today.
In the authors notes on page 221, it states that the convicts did play baseball. Al Capone did like to play baseball and he did play first base. Children did like to collect the baseballs that flew over the fence.
On page 222 in the authors notes it states that the wives of the guards did censor the mail that came to Alcatraz. Sometimes the guards would do it but the wives were occasionally asked to help.
