Sediments sit on a river bed.
The sediments compact into sedimentary rocks. They are cemented by the river water.
The rock undergoes heat and pressure, changing it into metamorphic rock deep within the Earth
The heating of the metamorphic rock turns it into magma.
The magma turns into lava as it exits the volcano. The lava starts cooling until it solidifies into igneous rock.
The rock is weathered and eroded by the movement of the water. It is broken down into sediments. And the cycle starts again.
