  • A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. 
  • Downfall
  • Antigone begins as a powerful and noble person because she stuck up for what she thought was right and tried everything to fix it.
  •  Hero
  • "They say of all women here she least deserves the worst of deaths for her most glorious act." page 280
  • One flaw that lead Antigone to her death was how stubborn she is.
  • Tragic Fate
  • She faces a downfall when Polynieces was uncovered, she cried for him and got caught by the guards. 
  • "We saw the girl giving that dead man's corpse full burial rites." page 270
  • She was considered a good person for trying to bury Polynieces even though it was against the law.
  • "I'll take her on a path no people use, and hide her in a cavern in the rocks while still alive."
