Horatio and Marcellus talk about seeing a ghost in the castle. Horatio does not believe it until they witness the ghost again.
Hamlet got told by Horatio about the ghost and that it looked like his father. Hamlet sees the ghost and the ghost tells him that he was murdered by Claudius ( murder most foul) . Hamlets father was not bit by a snake but poisoned by Claudius.
Hamlet puts on a play within a play to find out if Claudius reacted badly or acts guilty. Claudius reacts badly and heads for the door, this gives Hamlet a sign of murder. "The plays the thing wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king"
In this scene Hamlet questions his existence and if he should die or not. He thinks that if he will die all of his worries will go away; if he dies he will not be able to come back to life. Hamlet says 'to be or not to be- that is the question'
King Hamlets ghost tells Hamlet that his death was defiantly not by a snake and was Claudius. he also tells him to take revenge on Claudius.
Act III Scene IV : In this scene Hamlet gets called into Gertrudes bedroom to discuss somethings. Gertrude tells Hamlet that Claudius ( now king) is upset about Hamlets actions. Hamlet gets annoyed and sees a figure behind the curtain, thinking it was Claudius , Hamlet stabbed the curtain violently, killing Polonius,
