I'm from Georgia. I don't want to have to pay taxes on my slaves and I want my slaves to be counted in our population for representation so we can have power over the northern states.
I am from New York. I don't want slaves to be counted toward their population because then they would have a lot more votes and could over power us. I also want taxes on their slaves because they are property and should be taxed.
The 3/5 compromise is that only 3/5 of their slaves will be taxed and only 3/5 will count towards the population for representation. They couldn't agree so they made this.
I'm from New Jersey, and I feel we should have a Unicameral Legislature, meaning I only want a single legislative part. So that the small states don't have less votes then then the larger states and so it wouldn't be unfair. I want it to be that no matter how big the state is they all have the same amount of votes
I am from Virginia and I feel that we should have a Bicameral Legislature, meaning i want 2 legislative branches. I want every person to be counted as a vote even if we have more people then the smaller states.
The compromise we have figured out is called The Great Compromise. Each states Senate is counted for 2 votes and each states representative be counted as one vote. So us as the big states don't get to many votes and the small states have a fair chance.
