Gather round kids, I need to tell you something sad.
They got given a large part of Palestine. Only, there were people living there previously. Arabs. They didn't accept this at all.
Six million people died in the holocaust during world war II. We Jews wanted our country back
And another war.
War began.... and ended. When it ended, Gaza was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank by Jordon.
Israel had Palestinian areas and Israeli troops stayed there for years. People of Israel wanted to exchange
They had lots of Palestinians who fled to Israel.
Israel left Gaza in 2005. Hamas won the elections and took control, they are a terrorist group. They want Palestine to live there, and don't want Israel to be a country.
Israel controls its borders, there is a crossing point to Egypt. But, no working airport. Access is restricted so Gaza does not get much goods. They have food, but families do not each as much. Often there are power cuts as well.
Lots of people are unemployed because businesses can get very few products to sell in Gaza to sell, and people don't have much money to buy things.
