Storyboard Text

  • On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began as soldiers of the North Korean People's army invaded the South, Republic of Korea. 
  • On June 27, 1950, President Truman declares that he will be sending forces to aid South Korea from the North. 
  • General MacArthur was put in charge of the American lead coalition of the United Nation troops to try to unite the the two countries back to one.
  • The war continued on with both sides struggling to control their territory that they take control of.
  • MacArthur was eventually removed for insubordination by Truman's policy of getting China involved into the Korean War for fear of having to fight China as well.
  • The war would end with a ceasefire between the two countries arranged by the United Nations and divide the countries at the 38th parallel.
