On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began as soldiers of the North Korean People's army invaded the South, Republic of Korea.
On June 27, 1950, President Truman declares that he will be sending forces to aid South Korea from the North.
General MacArthur was put in charge of the American lead coalition of the United Nation troops to try to unite the the two countries back to one.
The war continued on with both sides struggling to control their territory that they take control of.
MacArthur was eventually removed for insubordination by Truman's policy of getting China involved into the Korean War for fear of having to fight China as well.
The war would end with a ceasefire between the two countries arranged by the United Nations and divide the countries at the 38th parallel.
