  • Gentlemen, for shame forbear this outrage!
  • Scene 2
  • Oh Tybalt, Tybalt, the best friend I had! O courteous Tybalt, honest gentleman, That ever I should live to see thee dead!
  • Scene 3
  • A gentler judgment vanished from his lips: Not body's death, but body's banishment.
  • Tybalt challenged Romeo to a fight, but Romeo doesn't want to fight Tybalt because he is family. Mercutio fights Tybalt and dies because Romeo got in the way. Romeo killed Tybalt to avenge Mercutio and gets banished by the Prince.
  • Scene 4
  • These times of woe afford no times to woo.— Madam, good night. Commend me to your daughter.
  • The Nurse told Juliet that Tybalt was killed by Romeo and Romeo was banished. Juliet has conflicting feelings about who to side with; her beloved cousin or her husband. Juliet sends the Nurse to give Romeo her ring.
  • Scene 5
  • Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn The gallant, young, and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter's Church Shall happily make thee there a joyful bride.
  • Friar Lawrence tells Romeo the Prince banished him. Romeo believes that death is better than not being able to see Juliet again. The Nurse gives Romeo Juliet's ring and Romeo goes to see Juliet.
  • Ha, banishment? Be merciful, say "death," For exile hath more terror in his look, Much more than death. Do not say "banishment."
  • Paris asks Lord Capulet permission to marry Juliet. Lord Capulet agrees thinking it will cheer Juliet up. Paris and Juliet will get married the following Thursday.
  • Romeo leaves Juliet's bedroom before dawn. Juliet refuses to marry Paris. The Nurse tells Juliet to forget about Romeo and marry Paris, so Juliet gets mad at the Nurse.
