Hi, my name is Jackie Robinson!
Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo. Georgia but he grew up in Pasadena, California. His full name is Jack Roosevelt Robinson. Jack played pro football before he was drafted into the United States Army. Jackie did not always play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played on the Kansas City Monarchs- where a scout from the Dodgers found him.The president of the Dodgers signed Robinson on October 24, 1945. Jackie was from then on known as the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. After retiring in 1956, Jackie pursued business and continued working for civil rights. He died in 1972 of diabetes and heart problems on October 24 in Stamford Connecticut at the age of 53.

His siblings were Mack Robinson, Willa Mae Robinson, Edgar Robinson, and Frank Robinson. His mother was Mallie Robinson and his father was Jerry Robinson. Jackie grew up in a very large family.
