Tecumseh was born in 1768 near the Sciota River.
Tecumseh started to fight Europeans when he was about 14.
Shall we give up our homes, our country, giv'n to us by 'the Great Spirit?' The graves of our dead, and everything that is sacred to us? I know you will cry with me... Never!
Tecumseh joined the Native American Confederacy but soon left to make his own confederacy.
Tecumseh started fighting Europeans with his own confederacy very successfully.
Tecumseh and his confederacy built Prophetstown. While Tecumseh went to get more people to join, he left his brother in charge. He always gave him orders never to attack.
One day, William Henry Harrison wanted to get their land, so he got an army of 500 people. Tecumseh's brother saw him and disobeyed Tecumseh's orders. He attacked William's army and this was a very bloody battle. William's army burnt Prophetstown to the ground. This was called 'the Battle of Tippecanoe.'
