Hi my name is Karol Wojtyla, but I am better known as Pope John Paul the Second
I was born in Wadowice, Poland in 1920. Once, I earned my doctorate in Sacred Theology from Jagellion University I joined a seminary at 22. Then after I extended my knowledge in the Catholic Church by becoming a priest.
I then became the bishop of Ombi. Pope Paul VI was impressed with my work in the church, which leaded to my promotion of cardinal. I became noticed from being a great thinker.
I began to think about how we are all created in the image and likeness of God. I was a theologian who studied how we are distinct from other living things. After I wrote many books about my work to share it with others.
In 1978 I learned that I was the new pope. I was thrilled. In my 27 years as pope, I passed through 480 canonizations. I helped with the fall of the Soviet Union, and I helped enhance the Catholic understanding of married love.
In 2005 I died peacefully. My favorite quote of mine was "freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought"
