Erik the red was a Norwegian viking who in 982 after marrying, was convicted and exiled for murder.
After this, Eric than sailed west and discovered a fertile, green land which he named green land.
Eric then in 985 came back to green land after gathering 25 ships with 500 men and women and live stock on each to sail to his new land.
Out of the 25 ships, on 14 reached there destination and started a colony in green land
Eric's son, lief became a christian in Ice land in about 1000 A.D and brought christian missionaries to green land and made the green lands people into Christians.
In 1540 AD, 500 years later an expedition was made to green land. When they found green land, they found that the settlement was in ruins and there was no people. To this day, no-one knows what happened to the viking settlers of Greenland.
