This summer seems to be the worst one yet, and the most confusing one, I might add. Dill has a new father, and due to that, he is not allowed to come over to Maycomb. My brother Jem also doesn't want to do anything with me.
Calpurnia decided to take us to her church she goes to one day during this summer. Both Jem and I didn't know what we were getting into until we reached our destination.
That's when I realized.
Hello, Lula, these are my children, say--
I thought I said only we are allowed in this church, not "them."
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, Calpurnia. Children, I'm Reverend.
Calpurnia's eldest son, Zeebo, read from the only hymn book they had in the Church. I didn't know what they were singing, so I refrained from talking until it ended. It was beautiful, however.
After returning home from the church, I had learned several new things. Tom Robinson had been accused of "rape" by Bob Ewell. I still have no idea why anyone will follow the Ewells' words. Calpurnia also refrained from telling me what that actually meant.
