  • This is Mali!
  • Government Type / Class Hierarchy
  • Branches: Executive-president. Legislative-National Assembly Judicial-Supreme Court with both judicial and administrative powers.
  • Jobs
  • In order for Malians to provide for their families, they are often forced to take on several jobs at a time.
  • Mali is about the size of Texas and California combined. Capital: Bamako. Terrain: Savannah and desert. Climate: Semitropical in the south; arid in the north
  • Culture
  • The government type for Mali is Republic. Mali organized its society by rulers, nobles, farmers, craftspeople, traders, and slaves.
  • Economy
  • Agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing employ the large majority of the population. Other jobs include the craft industry and trade. In order for Malians to provide for their families, they are often forced to take on several jobs at a time.
  • Religion
  • Most Malians are Sunni Muslims, there is a small number of Christians and low level of indigenous or traditional animist beliefs.
  • The largest tribe is the Bambara, who occupy many of the civil servant positions. It is the Dogons and the Tuareg who practice a more traditional way of life.In all, there are thirty-two languages listed for Mali, but French is the official language
  • Mali is one of the poorest countries in the world and is on the United Nations list of 48 ‘Least Developed Countries’. Over half the population survive on less than a dollar a day.
  • In Mali, there are Christian minorities and those who follow traditional African beliefs. However, over 90% of people are Muslim and mosques form an important part of cultural and social life.
