  • Rising action
  • I want an ideal animal to hunt. It must have courage, cunning and it must be able to reason.
  • What? You hunt humans? What you speak of is murder!
  • Rising Action
  • I need to run, now!
  • Rainsford and his friend Whitney are going to hunt in South Africa. While heading there, his yacht passes through the Caribbean waters, during the 20th century. Rainsford believes that there are only hunters and huntees in the world.
  • Climax
  • Rainsford is repulsed to find out Zaroff hunts humans. Even worse, Rainsford discovers that he is going to be part of the game.
  • Falling Action
  • During the last hunt, Rainsford decided to use a trick he learned in Uganda. He caught hold of a springy young sapling, and to it he fastened his hunting knife, with the blade pointing down the trail, and then he tied back the sapling.
  • Resolution
  • Rainsford eludes Zaroff, then manages to kill Ivan and a dog before diving off a cliff into the ocean.
  • Zaroff returns from the hunt and has a nice meal before heading to his bedroom. Then he finds Rainsford hiding behind the curtains.
  • Rainsford wins the final hunt. So, he ends up sleeping on the bed while Zaroff gets killed.
