Britain Expands Control Over India
We refuse to convert to Christianity and we refuse to work
British takes direct control
I got my eyes on you!
India was ruled by the British. India was known as "jewel in the crown" because it was Britain's largest supplier of raw materials and its largest market for finished goods.
Lots of Sepoys refused to work in the army and they did not want to convert. The Sepoys rebelled against the British and captured Delhi.
British did not like these rebellions so then the British governments took direct command of India. British were racist to Sepoys. All of this caused distrust between British and Indians.
