Les Goodman's and the residents on maple street witness his car start on its on and they start to blame him for the power outage.
I just don't understand it. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. You saw me. All of you saw me.
Steve goes to talk to Les Goodman about what happened to his car. Charlie is across the street and starts to get suspicious of him too.
The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street: Theme: Mankind is its on worst enemy
You best watch who your're seen with, Steve! Until we get this all straightened out, you ain't exactly above suspicion yourself!
The residents on Maple Street see a dark figure approaching and they don't know who it is. Don gets a shot gun just in case it is one of the monsters. Charlie takes the gun and shoots the figure.
You killed him Charlie, you shot him dead!
This scene supports the theme Mankind is its own worst enemy because people know Les Goodman and they are good friends with him, but then they turn on him and become a mob.
This also supports the theme that mankind is its own worst enemy because Charlie keeps trying to find a scapegoat just so people won't blame him for the event that happened. He does this by starting to turn on people live Steve.
This scene supports the theme mankind is its own worst enemy because Charlie kills Pete Van Horn and he didn't do anything. After that people start to blame him for the monsters too.
