Exposition: Brother was remebering Doodle Characters: Doodle, brother, Mama, Daddy, Aunt Nicey. Setting: North Carolina early 1900s, Old Woman Swamp, house
Rising Action: Brother teaches Doodle how to walk because he was ashamed of having a crippled brother, then he tries to teach Doodle how to run, swim climb trees, and fight.
Climax: The family finds a scarlet ibis and it falls out of a tree.
Falling Action: Brother took Doodle out to Horsehead Landing because he still had a long way to go to keep up with the other boys when he started school and a thunderstorm started.
Resolution: Brother finds Doodle beneath a red nightshade bush and realizes he is dead. Brother laid there crying for Doodle.
Theme: Pride can lead to bad things happening.
