The aim of the study was to separate shared genetic from shred environmental effects on intelligence.
The sample was 214 families were invited to take and only 112 families responded to take part. The mean age of the twins was 9.1 years , with a mean age of siblings at 11.9 years. The mean age of biological fathers was 41.9 years compared to the mothers at 43.7 years.
The children were put into a room were they completed a 60 question test made of 5 sets of 12 questions and became harder as the test went on. The test covered a range of cognitive abilities for example missing puzzles.
•Environmental factors were found to be more important in children with genetic disposition for low IQ groups than high IQ children. •Intelligence could be inherited 67% of the time from the parents. •Spouses are more attracted to similar intelligent people.
1- The influence on IQ level is genetic factors, however genes interact with the environmental factors to influence intelligence. 2- Cultural transmissions does not have significant influences on IQ. 3- Phenotypic assortment better explains spousal resemblance than social homogamy
