  • It is 1959 and apartheid is currently still going on in South Africa... Rethabile is a young black South African girl and Thato is also young a black South African boy. Rethabile and Thato are sister and brother.
  • What are you black people doing in our area?
  • Whites Only
  • Blacks Only
  • AFRICAN MARKET
  • 3 + 3 =?
  • At school Rethabile is the only black South African in her 3rd grade class. She is even lucky that she is still able to attend school.
  • Black South Africans were not even allowed to participate in any of the Rugby games. Thato has always dreamed of being part of South Africa's rugby team. He wonders if he will ever get the chance to. His dreams are always crushed when he watches a rugby game.
  • The only library in Rethabile's town is an only white South African library. At school they give the black South African children very difficult work. So, Rethabile needs to stop by the library to get some help, but she is forbidden to.
  • Black South Africans are not ALLOWED
  • Um... excuse me raggedy black girl. Why are you in the library? Have you read the sign?
  • Even at church the white South Africans harass Thato and Rethabile's family. In South Africa there is a belief that if your complexion is very light then you are superior.
  • But, does God really love you guys?
