Storyboard Text

  • Ralph
  • A group of schoolboys, aged six to twelve, are left on an island without adults' supervision, after their plane crashes while evacuating them from England during a nuclear war. They proceed to try and govern themselves to maintain order and civility, and they all choose Ralph to be the chief, but they ultimately fail to do so. Jack is unhappy and humiliated when he is voted down. Ralph is seen as Jack's greatest adversary. They then descend into violence and brutality.
  • Jack is in charge of the choir, and the choir will be hunters.
  • Piggy
  • Simon
  • Jack
  • Jack becomes very intent on hunting as the days go by. Ralph wants everybody to contribute to building shelters, but the hunters are not cooperating and are playing instead.
  • Jack and the hunters are in charge of keeping the signal fire alive.
  • Meat, meat, meat!
  • There was a ship passing by, but as the hunters did not keep the fire going, it burned out and they lost their only chance of going home. Piggy blamed Jack and Jack proceeded to punch Piggy and broke one lens of his glasses.
  • You let the fire go out. There was a ship. Out there. You said you would keep the fire going and you let it out! We could have gone home!
  • We could have gone home-
  • We needed everyone for the job.
  • That was the first incident which occurred to sour Jack's and Ralph's relationship. All the more, since there was a ship that passed, and Jack punched Piggy when he was clearly in the wrong. The next problem is when the littluns become afraid of a beastie on the island.
  • The littluns are becoming increasingly afraid of a beastie on the island.
  • I'm deeply sorry I let the fire go out.
  • There is no beastie and we need to build another fire.
  • This fear of the beast does not leave the littluns. They can either choose to deal with it Ralph's way, which is to conquer the fear through reason, or Jack's way, and think they are hunters and they are strong together as one and can slay the beast.
  • What are you going to do about the beastie on the island?
  • We'll hunt for it.
  • When the hunters do build the fire, it is to chase Ralph out of his hiding place. The only other people supporting him is Simon and Piggy and Jack and his tribe are enemies of Jack, Piggy and Simon. They live on different parts of the island.
