Storyboard Text

  • It was a typical Friday after school, I had my weekly tennis private lessons with my Coach.
  • For the last half hour, work on the cross court drill.
  • BEEP BEEP BEEP!
  • Sounds great, Coach.
  • Everything was seemingly going alright, until an unexpected phone call came to my Coach from my mom.
  • Okay, I'll come answer it.
  • Here's a call from your mother.
  • I was told that Jane, my close house church leader, was going to pick me up in few minutes and I would spend the night at her dorm at UT.
  • Take your time Jasmine, I'll be waiting.
  • ...Okay Mom, I'll tell Coach. Promise me to text me with updates!
  • As I was waiting for Jane to come, I started to think about what could have happened. All I knew was that my parents were in Dallas and "everything was okay."
  • "Everything will be okay." Why do these words not even sound reassuring?
  • I could not understand how being hospitalized was going to end up "okay." My aunt, my role model, being hospitalized, it was just too much for me to comprehnd at teh moment.
  • Everything will be okay, let's go get food and then go to my dorm.
  • I don't know how much you know about the situation but currently your aunt is hospitalized after cardiac arrest.
  • WILL SHE BE OKAY?
  • AFTER DINNER...
  • Even though I wished that everything could be fine, reality hit me. It was late Thursday night and I had school tomorrow. I had to hurry up and start on school work.
  • Get changed and I'll be in the room across. Come get me if you need me.
  • Okay thanks Jane. I better get started on homework for tomorrow.
