  • George and Lennie are two ordinary guys when they have to run from a problem they are faced with when lennie hurts a girl on accident. They eventually stop running and get on a train then talk about a dream they would love to have come true. George and lennie resemble the average man at work because they have to work hard for what they want. A theme that resembles what they want is the average american wants the american dream as in owning land.

  • A character in the book is candy. He has this very old dog that is soon to die but the other guys think its better to shoot the dog now and save it from suffering later. He goes along with the idea but he cant pull up the courage to shoot his dog himself so he has Carlston. Candy's dog's death foreshadows lennie's death because candy and his dog are foils of George and Lennie. They are foils because candy planed on staying with his

  • Curley's wife enters the barn to see lennie holding something that turns out to be his dead puppy. Lennie and her eventually sit by the hay stack and talk. She offers him a chance to feel her hair and when he does he doesn't stop and she trys to scream but he covers her mouth and accidentally kills her. At this point we can make a guess and say that the plan lennie and George have is going down hill. This proves that that our own actions will be the undoing of our own plan.

  • George has to make a big decision and that's to kill lennie. He has to kill him because he is the foil to candy's dog because he is old and has something wrong with him. The death of him makes a big dent in their plan because their plan can't come true now with lennie dead. This proves the theme " the best laid out plans of Mice of Men often go awry'
