Woodsrunner by Gary Paulsen Secondary Char. Argument-Jason, Colin, Gevonta
This book was during the Revolutionary War and Samuel was a 13 year old boy who lived in a cabin in the forest with his mom and dad. He met many nice people when he was looking for his parents who were kidnapped by the Iroquis.
The most influencial secondary character in the book Woodsrunner is Abner. Samuel was not used to people. He was surprised at the kindess of Abner. One example states, "Samuel was confused. He'd decided to trust no one and yet the old man had come forward and lied for them"(100) Samuel is now starting to trust people. He is starting to trust because is showing him that people can help you.
Another reason Abner is the most influential secondary character is he was the one who came up with the plan to save Samuel's parents. Abner states, "Simple plans are best." "A good simple plan. And in the end that was exactly the way it worked."(133,134) Samuel was glad he met Abner and listened to the wise old man because he did find his parents.
However, if Coop did not save him he may not be alive. For instance when Samuel got hit with the tomahawk Coop was the person who found him. Samuel asked him what happened and Coop responded, "Long story, that. We come on these Iroquios and some redcoats. ..so we snuck up proper and took them on."(59-60) It is true that Coop was there to heal Samuel however finding his parents was the most important thing to him. Samuel introduces Abner and Mathe to his parents. "They're friends-Abner and Matthew."(138)
Samuel met many people on his journey to find his parents but the one person who affected him the most was Abner. He gave him back his family.
