Storyboard Text

  • "This, by his voice, should be a Montague. Fetch me my rapier, boy"(Tybalt pg.826).
  • "It fits when such a villian is a guest. I'll not endure him,(Tybalt pg. 827).
  • "He shall be endured,"(Capulet pg. 827).
  • "Thus from my lips, by thine my sin is purged(Romeo pg.828). {kisses her}
  • When Romeo enters the party, he sets his sights on this beautiful lady dancing in the middle of the floor, which happens to be Juliet. Tybalt over-hears Romeo talking to the servant, instantly knows he is a Montague, and tries to pick a fight with him.
  • "Is she a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe's debt,(Romeo pg. 828).
  • Tybalt gets interupted by Capulet asking him why he is so mad. Tybalt tells him that Romeo is at the party and that he will disturb the peace if they do not kick him out. Capulet, however, tells Tybalt to let it go and to let romeo stay because he does not want a fight at his party.
  • "Go ask his name-If he is married..."(Juliet pg.830).
  • "His name is Romeo, and a Montague, the only son of your great enemy,"(Nurse pg.830).
  • This scene is very important because it is when Romeo and Juliet first meet eachother and fall in love. Romeo is portrayed as a pilgrim that needs his sins to be absloved, and Juliet is a saint that takes away his sins with a kiss.
  • After the kiss, the nurse pulls Juliet aside and tells her that her mother would like to have a word with her. Curious, Romeo asks who her mother is and the nurse tells him that she is the lady of the house. Romeo then worries because he suspects his new love is also his foe.
  • In the final scene of Act 1, Juliet asks the Nurse to find out if Romeo is married and while doing so, discovers that he is a Montague. Juliet is torn because she is in love with Romeo but cannot be with him because he is also their biggest rival.
