Storyboard Text

  • Jack meets Algernon and reveals to him that his name is not really Ernest and  Algernon reveals that he also has a secret of his own.
  • Jack:"It isn't Jack; it's Ernest."-pg.5
  • Jack:"Well my name is Ernest in town and Jack in the country.."-pg.5
  • Algernon: "You have  always told me it was Ernest. You answer to me as  Ernest. You're the most Ernest person i've ever seen in my life."-pg.5
  • Algernon: ".....besides, your name isn't Jack at all; it is Ernest."-pg.5
  • Algernon: Well I also have a fake brother named Bunbury.
  • Act 1
  • Jack confesses his Love to Cecily and Lady Bracknell interviews Jacks and finds out he does not know his real family which does not make her happy.
  • Lady Bracknell: You are joking with me!! We are done here! I won't tolerate that.
  • Algernon: “All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That’s his.”-pg.15
  • Jack: Me and Cecily are engaged but there is one problem, I do not know my real family.
  • At the Garden of the Manor House, Cecily is convinced that if she met Ernest that she would influence him into a good person.
  • Miss Prism: "You cannot change bad people into good people."(quote summarized)-pg. 22
  • Cecily: I guarantee you that if Ernest were to visit, I could influence him positively maybe turn him to a good person.
  • Act 2
  • Algernon proposes to Cecily at the garden, but Cecily and Gwen meet and find out that they're both engaged to Ernest.
  • Cecily: Who are you?
  • Cecily: That's impossible! I'm the one that's engaged to Ernest! 
  • I think we were lied to!!
  • *Both proceed to argue*
  • Gwendelyn: I'm the woman engaged to Ernest! Who are you?!
  • The women retreat to the Manor to get away from Jack and Algernon. They confront the men for lying and are on the verge to forgiving the men but remember that neither of their names are Ernest.
  • Gwen and Cecily: You guys lied to us and your names are not Ernest! 
  • The women: You guys are so brave and self-sacrificing we forgive you you won us over!
  • Jack and Algernon: We are sorry we lied, We are also trying to get our names christened to Ernest before the day is over. 
  • Act. 3
  • Lady Bracknell arrives at he Manor and has a discussion with Jack and Algernon. Jack refuses to let Cecily marry Algernon until lady Bracknell 
  •  grants her consent to let Gwen marry him but she refuses. As Bracknell is getting ready to leave she hears the name Prism, and demands to have her come over before she leaves
  • And she has shocking news
  • Miss Prism: No Jack I am not your Mother.
  • Lady Bracknell: Jack you are my sister's son and Algernon's brother! and your original name was Ernest John! It all makes sense now.
  • Jack: You were the one that left me as a baby in a handbag at the station? Mother?!
  • Jack: That is great!
