Many English settlers came in what is now Virginia along the James River.
The English settlers came here for one reason and one reason only which was for economic purposes.
There were many difficulties faced too. Unwillingness by some to work, lack of leadership, and no families.
But though they were having many difficulties, they has success due to tobacco plantations.
Their type of government was also the House of Burgesses.
The Englishmen never got along with the Native Americans either so it was harder for them to succeed.
