Storyboard Text

  • On September 22, 1791 Michael Faraday was born to a lower class south London family. He only had a basic education but at the age of 14 he worked with a book binder. During the next 7 years he read books teaching himself
  • Library
  • He later on in life attended lectures by Humphrey Davy and even asked to be an assistant. Turned down once eventually Davy made the right choice in 1813
  • Royal Institution
  • Faraday Then accompanied Davy and his wife to an 18 month tour in Europe. Meeting many scientists that influenced him even more. After returning he published hi findings on the electromagnetic rotation. Then started with Friday and Christmas lectures.
  • in 1821 he discovered electromagnetism (principle for the electric motor). in 1831 He found the basis for generators and transformers. Electromagnetism changes the location of electrons in Atoms. Which meant that atoms weren't in a fixed shape like many had thought.
  • He died August 25, 1867
  • Michael Faraday Changed the thought of atoms with his discovery that electrons could move in location meaning that atoms weren't stuck in the way they were and could change constantly.
  • When atoms become electrically charged it's because they are unbalanced and become positive or negative as shown by Michael Faraday. This causes the electrons to move to different atoms attracting the negative to the positive atom making electricity and making the thought that atoms are stationary and non changing incorrect
