  • Saul was the best player at St. Jerome's hockey team. His successes freed him out of the residential school. Saul was going to play for a 17-19-year-old team when he was only 14.
  • When playing for the Moose, Saul was the First Star at one of his hockey games. Saul was also recognized by a big NHL scout, which was his ticket to the pro scene.
  • When playing for the NHL rookie team, Saul overcame a majority of the racial taunts from other teams, the media, and the crowd. Saul became a better hockey player, by keeping up with the faster players and learning how to shoot more precise. Saul continued to do his best, scoring 23 points in 9 games.
