Storyboard Text

  • March 1976- the struggling son of a Dutch baker, Adelheide, seeks a better life in the prospering land of Canada
  • I am sorry Adelheide, but in accordance to the newly placed immigration act, you are not elligible to immigrate to Canada on the basis that you would become on a burden on social welfare.
  • On the plane ride back...
  • Oh no, whatever will I do? I can't be seen as a social welfare liability, so I must find support within Canada to help me.
  • Then, after a long and thought provoking flight, Adelheide suddenly remembered that when he was just a small child his father's brother, Vadelheide, was able to successfully immigrate to Canada as an independant immigrant.
  • I need to contact Uncle Vadelheide!
  • The Netherlands...
  • Hello Uncle Vadelheide, I was wondering if I could stay with you in Canada, as I am seeking a better life but unable to successfully immigrate to Canada as an independent immigrant.
  • Canada...
  • Well of course you can, young Adelheide! And thanks to the newly implemented immigration act, you can immigrate as an assisted relative which makes it sooo much easier to come to Canada!
