Storyboard Text

  • Nick and Gatsby arrive to the Buchanan's house on one of the hottest days of the year. When Tom returns from his phone call with his mistress, Daisy orders him to get them some cold drinks. As soon as he left the room Daisy declares her love for Gatsby and kisses him wildly.
  • "We can't move," they said together.
  • Daisys daughter, Pammy walks in. Daisy introduces her to Nick and Gatsby. Gatsby's reaction is surprised, and Nick explains that he didn't think Gatsby ever believed in its existence before.
  • "The bles-sed pre-cious! Did mother get powder on your old yellowy hair? Stand up now, and say- How-de-do."
  • "Listen, Tom. If you're such a snob, why did you invite him to lunch?" demanded Jordan crossly.
  • Tom is angry that Daisy wanted to go in the car with Gatsby instead of him. In the car he keeps talking badly about Gatsby and explains that he's been making "a small investigation of his past".
  • "Daisy invited him; she knew him before we were married- God knows where!"
  • Tom and Gatsby are fighting over Daisy. Gatsby told Tom that Daisy never loved him and explained that she only married Tom because Gatsby was poor and was tired of waiting for him. Tom also admits to cheating, while Daisy admits to loving Tom at one point.
  • "You must be crazy!" exclaimed Tom automatically.
  • "Your wife doesn't love you," "She's never loved you. She loves me."
  • Heading back home Tom, Jordan and Nick notice there's a commotion by Wilson's store. They stopped and found Myrtle's body wrapped in a two blankets, motionless. She was hit by a car and died. Tom suspected it to be Gatsby because they described the car as yellow.
  • "What you want fella?" "Auto hit her, Ins'antly killed." "She ran out ina road. Son-of-a-bitch didn't even stopus car"
  • "What happened?- that's what I want to know." "Instantly killed," repeated Tom, staring.
  • Nick see's Gatsby coming out of a bush and asked him what he's doing. He tells him he's waiting for Daisy to go to bed. Gatsby tells Nick about the accident and that Daisy was one driving but he would take the blame. After, Gatsby notices in the window Daisy sitting at the table with Tom silently and just watched them and waits till Daisy goes to bed.
  • "You'd better come home and get some sleep."
  • "I want to stay here till Daisy goes to bed. Good night, old sport."
