Storyboard Text

  • Why?
  • Bud, can you give me a rock?
  • So why do you collect rocks ?
  • I get them at every band concert I go to then write where it was on the rock.
  • I own rocks just like that.
  • Talking on phone, sorry Bud tell me later.
  • After the band's concert, Mr. Callaway and Bud are outside by the car. Mr. Callaway asks Bud, the main character, to pick up a rock for him. Bud is very confused. He leans down and picks up a rock. He gives it to Mr.C who then writes some numbers on the rock.
  • Did you steal those from me?
  • See Mr. Callaway, here are my rocks inside the bag.
  • Bud wants to know why he picked up a rock and Mr. C explains that he writes on the rocks to show where each concert was so he can remember it. His daughter wanted him to do that every time. She left, but he continues to collect the rocks in her memory.
  • What's your mom's name?
  • Where did you get those rocks?
  • Bud tries to explain that he has rocks just like that, but Mr. C can't hear Bud because he is distracted on his phone. This is another view of the car.
  • Why are you so sad?
  • That is my daughter's name.
  • They get out of the car and Bud shows Mr. C the rocks that look just like his rocks. Mr. C then accuses Bud by asking if he stole the rocks from him. He thought Bud stole them from his house. They are outside of the house for this scene.
  • no.
  • Mr.Jimmy, Mr. C's band mate, asks where Bud got his rocks from, Bud says his mom. Mr.C says, what is your mom's name? Bud says, Angela Janet Caldwell. Bud is confused. Mr. C. is upset. They are inside the house.
  • Angela Janet Caldwell.
  • From my mom.
  • Mr.C is very sad because Angela is his daughter's name. Bud says earlier in the book that she's dead. Bud tries to comfort him, but Mr. C runs away and goes to cry in his room. In this last scene they are near the stairs.
