  • Black people should not be treated like this, we are people to.
  • Black people are slaves, they are nothing else.
  • Martin Delany was born in Charles Town, Virginia which is now known as West Virginia. He was a anti-slavery activist and he fought for slaves rights. Martin Delany was also a physician and a newspaper editor.
  • Martin Delany was one of the first African Americans to go to Harvard University, but he was kicked out because he was black. Delany was first learning his education in Pennyslavia, but when he was 19 he had to support his family so he left school. After that he had to walk 160 miles to Bethel Church School for blacks and Jefferson College.
  • Martin Delany was very smart and he fought against slavery, but that is not all that he did. Delany also served in the civil war. Delany became one of the highest ranking African American in the army. Delany died of tuberculosis on January 24, 1885, in Wilberforce, Ohio. Frederick Douglass explained how good of a person Delany was after he died.
