When I shoot the ball the force I put on it will cause it to go forward, and up.
The ball is at its peak.
According to physicsclassroom.com, a projectile is an object with a single force acting against the force of gravity. A basketball uses the force of the shooter to go upward, and forward. Gravity pulls the ball towards the ground. Causing a projectile motion.
When the projectile is at its highest point, the gravity becomes stronger than the initial force, and its height decreases.
The gravity brought the ball down towards the Earth causing the ball to go into the basket.
