This story takes place about a brother of a new baby. The new baby name is Doodle, and he barley lived his birth.
Doodle's brother is holding his new baby brother Doodle. When Doodle was born he has a disability. His disability was that his heart was weak for his body.
Brother wait! Don't leave me!
Doodle's brother tries to teach Doodle how to walk. He wants Doodle to be normal and not be a weird brother. One day during the summer, the family finds a scarlet ibis that dies. Doodle makes a connection with this bird.
On the last day of training, Doodle shows that he's weak to continue training. Doodle's brother is upset, and as they decide to go home, a thunderstorm rolls in.
Doodle's brother begins running home, however cannot keep up and calls out, “Brother don’t leave me.”
Doodle's brother turns to go back to his brother, and finds him dead under a bush, in a similar position as the ibis. Doodle's brother blame his self.
