I think you should read ''A Taste of Blackberries'' because the book allows you to travel through the narrators mind to see how he dealt with everything that had happen.
Jamie and I snagged our way into the blackberries patch.I picked a dark berry and popped into my mouth. the inside of my cheeks puckered.
Jamie kept going and never stopped. He reached the tree shinnied up, grabbed a couple of apples, jump down and starred back. The old man had come out onto his porch. I fancied I saw a shotgun cradled in his arms.
Jamie was horsing around , as usual, and not doing his share . But it didn't matter . We were getting paid by the jarful. If he wanted to waste time poking around at a bee hole it was betel money out of his pocket.
What could have happed to Jaime so fast, unless he broke his neck in his falling down act. The sound of the sirens came closer and Mrs.Houser poked her head out of Jamie's front door.
The casket was open during the funeral and, row by row everyone went by to look. As I went by the casket, I was prepared not tot take a good look.
I felt like a thief, stealing into her garden. I walked quickly down the nearest path, paying no attention even when a butterfly brushed my cheek as flitted by. At the end of the path I looked back. I was out of sight of Mrs. Mullins window.
