All about the Sci-Fi genre
"Science fiction differs from fantasy not in subject matter but in aim, and its unique aim is to suggest real hypotheses about mankind's future or about the nature of the universe (Engdahl, Chp 10, Page 120)."
Are Science Fiction and modern fantasy the same?
Did you know that scientific fiction is also referred to as futuristic fiction?
This genre focuses on ideas in which scientific possibilities could possibly affect aliens, humans, or both.
This type of fiction usually takes place in an imaginary land where the people are either fearful or unaware.
Some examples of Scientific Fiction are -The Giver -Eager -A Wrinkle in Time -The Homework Machine -Whales on Stilts -Lunch Walks Among Us -The True Meaning of Smekday
Some selections from this genre could be best described as science fantasy. Meaning that they are somewhat scientific but mostly magically focused.
An important thing to remember about science fiction is that the magic within them is developed around scientific fact not just because it exists.
