Storyboard Text

  • I own my very own establishment named the Cook Coffeehouse. I make sure everything is in order, and prepared only the best. With the help of Eliza, Grandfather, and Matilda we are very successful.
  • Cook Coffeehouse
  • Soon after Polly dies, I become incredibly ill with the yellow fever. As soon as Grandfather and Matilda left I became worse and worse. I had no hope against beating the sickness. I left to the Ludington's farm in the hope that I would get better and away from the sickness on the road to recovery.
  • When I got there I was heartbroken to not find Matilda and Grandfather there to greet me. I searched day and night for the two of them until I was near death, and could no longer walk. People from the Bush Hill society found me and cared for me. One particular woman told me that not long ago a little girl and her Grandfather left for a place named the "Cook Coffeehouse" in Philadelphia. This gave me hope that they were still alive. I recovered and stayed at Bush Hill.
  • Where can Matilda and Grandfather be? Are they in danger? Are they safe?
  • Just on another regular morning at Bush Hill, I was going to head outside to get a breath of fresh air. I was nearly alarmed when a cold burst of miniature snowflakes brushed against my skin. I nearly cried tears of joy as I landed on my knees to thank god for the return of the frost.
  • The frost has returned! We are saved!
  • When I heard the news that Washington had returned to Philadelphia, and that we weren't in danger from the terrible outbreak of the fever. I bolted to Philadelphia to reunite with my family. I was so thankful that Matilda was okay and that we both survived the fever.
  • I have missed you so much as well Matilda!
  • Cook Coffeehouse
  • Mother! I have missed you so much!
  • In the hardship I have faced, I have now learned the importance of family. Also how quickly things can happen in life, and how to enjoy ever precious moment.
