Storyboard Text

  • SCENARIO 1: It's the beginning of the lesson and my students are sitting for circle time. they know to sit nicely and follow our rug rules (hands on knees, ears are listening, eyes are watching and raise your hand) and the expectation is that they follow the rug rules at all times while on the rug. I give them specific feedback and praise when they are following directions and rules.
  • I ask the question: "What do you like to do?" we have studied three variations of the same sentence structure: "I like to ______""I like to __________ and __________" and "I like to ______, _____and _____".
  • "What do you like to do?"
  • I see three students raising their hand while the other students are speaking without asking for a turn and i praise them with specific feedback.
  • Wow! I see Adel and Johnny sitting nicely and raising their hand, thank you for following rug rules. Johnny, Adel, what do you like to do?"
  • SCENARIO 2: During "work time" students are completing worksheets on the topic of the day. Our class rule for "work time" is "fast and good", meaning "follow directions quickly". As I am circulating the desks I provide positive and detailed feedback to my students and make sure to point out any positive points to the rest of the class.
